What is Business Valuation?
Business valuation is the process of determining the economic value associated with an entire business or an ownership interest in one. Business valuations are frequently required in litigation and regulatory matters such as shareholder and partnership disputes, divorce proceedings, and estate and gift taxation. Valuations may also be utilized for exit and transition planning, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic and financial planning matters.

We combine business experience and valuation expertise with a client-focused approach, allowing us to deliver best-in-class business valuation services. Our team is focused on providing reliable, independent, and cost-effective business valuations.
Business valuation determines what a business is worth for many reasons. Common examples include estate tax filings, gifting shares to family, divorce settlements, or buying and selling a business. We follow strict IRS guidelines to ensure the value stands up where it matters most.
Business valuations are prepared as either a conclusion of value or calculation of value, as defined by professional standards from the AICPA and NACVA.
A Conclusion of Value results in an expert opinion and is required by FAZ Forensics in litigation or regulatory proceedings. A Calculation of Value, by contrast, does not constitute an opinion of value and is generally performed when the scope of analysis is limited by agreement with the client. This approach is an alternative suited for strategic planning, preliminary assessments, or exit and succession planning where a full conclusion is not required.
A conclusion of value is an independent opinion issued by a valuation expert that follows professional standards issued by the AICPA and NACVA.
A conclusion of value is required by FAZ Forensics in litigation and regulatory proceedings, such as shareholder disputes, divorce proceedings, and estate and gift taxation, but it may be used for other purposes, as well.
The valuation expert formally opines on the value of the business or business ownership interest.
Our analysts hold credentials such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), and Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). Professional standards issued by the AICPA and NACVA are followed.
A calculation of value is a lower depth, cost-effective option to determine an estimated business value, and may consider client specific opinions and preferences.
A Calculation of Value is ideal for:
The analyst does not conclude on an opinion of value. Instead, they apply agreed-upon methods and calculate a value based on those terms.
As you can tell, not all valuation work is created equal. For business owners, attorneys, and other advisors, it’s important to discuss the purpose of the valuation with the expert early on. This ensures the level of service is cost-effective, efficient, and tailored to your needs.
FAZ Forensics did a full review and evaluation of my business and I was very happy with the level of detail and expertise.
Christian has, along with his good nature and thoughtful regard, been exceedingly helpful with sorting out the complexities of our case. We could not be more pleased with our exchange. Thomas and Hema Easley
Christian was patient and easy to understand. clear, concise and thorough. he spoke “plain” English and was respectful. he did not “rush” and he responded to every question i had, in a timely manner. no matter how “dumb” it may have seemed. for example, i received some paperwork by mail and i did not understand it. i emailed him about it and he cleared it up that day. thats great customer service!
Really good, very knowledgeable and communicated with us every step of the way.

Steve Ferraro did an excellent job and worked tirelessly as our expert forensic accountant witness. Based on Steve's hard work, the jury awarded every penny that Steve showed our client to be entitled to and completely rejected the conclusions of the opposing side's expert.
